Some EGers got to play in the dirt with Urban Roots. This awesome local org is dedicated to growing healthy minds, bodies, and communities through education and service, bringing the garden into the classroom and bringing kids outside to learn where their food comes from. Estipona Group spent a Saturday pulling weeds and transplanting gooseberries. Yes, gooseberreis! These tasty litte berries are packed with vitamin C, fiber, potassium and "miscellaneous vitamins and minerals," according to Livestrong.com. And many of them are now happily living outside in rich and delicious garden soil (the gooseberries, not the EGers).
